Dear Friend of the Miracle League:
For the past eight years, the Miracle League has made it possible for children with physical and mental disabilities to achieve the same dream as their healthy peers - to play ball. As you'll see in the enclosed video, these children get a reprieve from their daily challenges as soon as they step or roll out onto the ball field.
Through funding by sponsors and the commitment of volunteers, the Miracle League builds specially equipped fields for our players, a custom-designed field incorporates a cushioned synthetic turf that allows children in wheelchairs and walker to glide unrestricted to their positions without fear of injury. In other words, it provides a level playing field where children with physical and mental disabilities can hit, run and catch - just as they envisioned in their dreams.
Children with special needs aren't the only ones who benefit from the action on the field. Through the "buddy" program, youth players and community volunteers partner with our players to provide assistance and encouragement. This partnership benefits both sides as they share the great American pastime to find common ground, and most importantly, friendships.
The Miracle League currently has 200 Miracle League Organizations across the country and has gained national recognition as our player rosters have grown to over twenty-five thousand children. In order to continue the action on the Miracle League field, we are seeking corporate sponsors. Our sponsors help us in taking this program around the globe. Our goal is to reach our first 500 fields, which will service 1.3 million children with disabilities. With your help we can achieve this goal.
Your support will contribute to a new field, which will be located at the Northampton Municipal Park in Northampton Township, Richboro, PA. Our goal is to break ground in Spring 2009 and to have the field completed by Summer 2009. We need the support from the community to make this dream a reality.
